Supervisor in the Doctoral School

prof. Elżbieta Wernio

Faculty of Interior Architecture, Design and Stage Design; Department of Stage Design

Biographical note

Theatre set designer. I am involved in artistic creation in the field of theatre set design, theatre posters, graphic design, arrangement of exhibition spaces and interiors. My professional achievements include over eighty theatre performances in many theatres in Poland, in which I was the author and producer of set designs and costumes, as well as several stage design projects for the TV Theatre and for several musical films. Also, under my artistic supervision, several dozen performances were created, created by students of set designers on the stages of the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow, branch in Wrocław. The most important didactic and organisational achievement is the launch of a new course at the Faculty of Interior Architecture, Design and Stage Design – Stage Design. The work included creating the basics of the programme framework, forming the foundation and assumptions of education in the course, building and organising a teaching team forming the basis and core of the educational structure. Since the academic year 2015/2016, a resolution of the Senate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław has launched 5-year uniform master's studies. From the inception of the course until 2023, I was the head of the Department of Scenography. I have been a supervisor of doctoral dissertations at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and at other art schools in Poland many times. In the Scenography course, I have supervised several master's degrees since the beginning of its launch.
