Biographical note

A printmaker focusing on lithography, digital printing, drawing and painting. Born in 1958, he studied at the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Wrocław (now the Academy of Fine Arts). He graduated in 1982. Full professor at the Faculty of Graphics and Media Art of the Academy, and the head of the Studio of Lithography and Graphics Promotion. He presented his works at 28 individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He took part in over 150 group exhibitions in Poland, Europe, North and South America, and Australia. In the years 1999-2012, he organised and curated the International Drawing Competition in Wrocław. He has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Award of the President of the City of Plzeň in the 5th Drawing Biennial (2005), the US Department of State Scholarship at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque (1990), the Artistic Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and Art in Bratislava (1989).

Characteristic of the projects and research in which the PhD student is to be subsumed, including the expected practical and theoretical competencies of the PhD student:

We teach according to the rules governing classical lithography, algraphy, mokulito, linocut. The objective of teaching is to consolidate knowledge and develop skills in selecting and using

graphic media to express thoughts and formulate artistic problems; the main emphasis is put on the issues of correlation of idea and form and deepening knowledge and skills of using techniques and technologies of flatbed printing in artistic creation. Students, on the basis of their own experiences, work out innovative issues of theory and practice of creation.

Characteristic of didactic cooperation between the supervisor and the PhD student:

Students should know the basics of printmaking and drawing, have the ability to use graphic software, be aware of the relations between the expressed content and the formal means from the arsenal of lithography, algraphy, mokulito, linocut, digital printing.
