Local perceptions / 9th Festival of Painting
Galeria Geppart ASP Wrocław
Księcia Witolda 68/2
Wrocław
We would like to invite you to the exhibition titled "Local Vision," featured as part of this year's 9th Painting Festival program. Showcasing the works of Artists–Scholars from the Polish Art Academies (Wrocław, Krakow, Warsaw, Gdańsk), as well as from prestigious academies abroad (Greece/Athens, Italy/Palermo, Hungary/Budapest, Japan/Tokyo).
Derived from legal terminology, the exhibition's title speaks to the act of examining the spaces where artists operate, assuming the role of independent, external observers. They meticulously analyze their own local realities, emphasizing the conscious choice of location and its contextual conditions and relationships. Within this project, the fractal nature of locality emerges, encompassing the spectrum of what defines local, indigenous, or distinctive.
The aim of the exhibition is to combine diverse analytical perspectives and varying approaches to defining places as stages for local phenomena. Central to this is the collision of local perspectives from artists originating from different centers, including those affiliated with Polish Academies of Fine Arts (Wrocław, Kraków, Warsaw, Gdańsk), as well as with foreign academies (Greece/Athens, Italy/Palermo, Hungary/Budapest, Japan/Tokyo).
