Wolińska Maja
In 1997 she graduated from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, majoring in Printmaking.
A media artist and academic based in Wrocław, Poland, she is a professor at the Department of Media Art at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design. Her interdisciplinary practice spans time-based audiovisual media, para-documentary approaches, and site-specific projects. Working both in a studio and in the field, she investigates the visual logic and narrative structures of contemporary media imagery. In her recent work, she explores questions of deep ecology and overlooked urban ecosystems, with a focus on synanthropic organisms and human–nonhuman relations. She exhibits her work nationally and internationally, including at Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica and MACBA in Barcelona. As a member of the Random Check Media Ensemble, she takes part in festivals such as the WRO Media Art Biennale, Warsaw Autumn, and Musica Electronica Nova, combining sound, moving image, and performative formats. Her practice reflects a strong interest in transdisciplinary dialogue, experimental forms, and the intersection of art, ecology, and media theory.
