Biographical note

Interdisciplinary artist, curator, designer. For several years she has been associated with the Academy of Art&Design in Wroclaw, where in the Department of Interior Design she leads the Mindful Design Studio for Interactive Spaces and Objects. In 2013-15, she was a member of the design team of the Department of Thematic Spaces at Expo Milano 2015.
Author of spatial installations, artistic interventions and interactive objects. Advocate of new design paradigms oriented towards empathy, critique, speculation and social mission.
Participant in numerous exhibitions and art residencies organized both nationally and internationally. Recent interactive works are oriented towards provoking social-environmental empathy. Through the exploration of various types of media, and especially through participatory processes, the author encourages social reflection on the condition of today's reality. She has presented her works at, among others, Bozar in Brussels, at the 13th WRO Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw and at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art.

Supervision

Characteristic of the projects and research in which the PhD student is to be subsumed, including the expected practical and theoretical competencies of the PhD student:

Research in the area of broadly understood design, land art and also similar artistic practices of empathetic, critical, speculative, social, ecological or participatory nature. Conducted in the spirit of combining the professional experience of a doctoral student with interdisciplinary knowledge acquired through consciously conducted experiments, they will require the ability to combine creative strategies with theoretical achievements of other disciplines. Accordingly, the future doctoral student is expected not only to have a proven track record of artistic and design knowledge, but also to have a broader perspective on the problems of contemporary design. The doctoral student must demonstrate the ability to perceive new design paradigms resulting from socio-civilizational changes, and a preliminary understanding of contemporary methodologies in this area. The processes preceding the final result will be as important here as the result itself. Collaboration with theoreticians and specialists from other areas, as well as with external entities, is assumed wherever possible.

 

Characteristic of didactic cooperation between the supervisor and the PhD student:

The doctoral student will actively participate in didactic initiatives led by the promoter based on consultations with students, conducting team projects, participatory actions, organization of exhibitions, cooperation with cultural circles, etc. The doctoral student is expected to:
The ability to make a critical analysis of needs (social and environmental), conduct so-called Reseach in practice, and clearly summarize their activities. In addition, the following qualifications are welcome: communication skills, the ability to work in a team, coordinate projects, knowledge in the area of contemporary design and artistic methods, the use of new technologies in creative activities, experience in practical user-oriented research, in activities at the intersection of design and social action, expertise and interests in various areas of art and design discipline, from global exhibitions through pro-social and environmentally friendly installations.
