Summer Art and Design School 2025

From July 5th to July 26th, 2025, we had the privilege of welcoming students from the Kyung Hee University College of Art & Design in South Korea, who joined us in Wrocław for the Summer Art & Design School 2025. This initiative represents the continuation of a fruitful and long-standing partnership between our institutions.

A group of 24 students, accompanied by Professor Seung Woog Kim, took part in the program. Our Academy arranged a diverse curriculum for them, featuring courses in drawing, ceramics, and English language instruction. Drawing classes were organized by Przemysław Pintal, ceramics workshops by Dawid Żynda together with co-instructor Weronika Lucińska, and English instruction, designed to support students’ understanding of both artistic and technical concepts, was provided by Anita Majcher.

The drawing course aimed to strengthen students’ classical drawing skills while encouraging them to experiment with both traditional and contemporary techniques. Emphasis was placed on careful observation of nature, imaginative interpretation of physical phenomena, and teamwork in extended projects. The ceramics course, for its part, invited students to explore the concept of “home” by designing sculptural plant vessels. These works were conceived as both functional and expressive habitats, encouraging participants to reflect on the relationship between form, living organisms, and the environment. Guided by our instructors, students combined artistic intention with practical design, celebrating the fusion of art and nature in tangible ways.

In addition to their coursework, the participants were able to immerse themselves in the cultural richness of Wrocław, visiting local museums and landmarks. On weekends, they enjoyed excursions across the region, in Poland and beyond. Their journey began in Bolesławiec, a town renowned as a center of ceramic traditions, where they actively engaged in ceramics workshops and explored the Museum of Ceramics. Another highlight was their visit to Dresden, during which they discovered the city’s dynamic art scene, admired the Old Town’s architecture, and viewed masterpieces at the Zwinger Gallery. Their final trip took them to Wałbrzych, including a tour of the magnificent Książ Castle one of the largest and most picturesque castles in Poland - and a visit to the local Museum of Porcelain, a very special place in the cultural landscape, celebrating the legacy of porcelain craftsmanship that the region is famous for.

The Summer School concluded with an exhibition showcasing the students’ achievements. Their works in drawing and ceramics, created under the theme of art in nature, reflected the creativity and inspiration they had gained during their stay.
