OPEN CALL –workshops in Chemnitz/ The School of Garage
Become part of an experimental summer school within the framework of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025!
The School of Garage is an international art, activism, and design workshop – taking place in… garages! Nine temporary ateliers will become spaces for collective making, repairing, building, and designing futures based on solidarity and sustainability.
This is a unique opportunity to:
– work in an international, interdisciplinary team
– connect design, technology, and social engagement
– take part in the final exhibition at the former tram depot in Chemnitz
We especially invite you to apply for Garage 2: HackLab, led by Prof. Dominika Sobolewska and Karin Pisarikova, in collaboration with Mateusz Rukowicz and the Chaostreff Chemnitz team.
During HackLab, we will transform a garage into an open technology atelier for collaborative coding, experimenting, and designing. The workshop merges a tech lab (focused on coding and prototyping) with a makerspace (material experiments and upcycled design).
The workshop is led by Prof. Dominika Sobolewska – designer, curator, and lecturer, head of the Mindful Design Studio for Interactive Spaces and Objects, and curator of the project empathicdesign.eu.
