OBJECTIVE
The aim is to implement current knowledge and experience in the field of conservation and restoration of antique and modern glass, historical technologies and techniques of forming and decorating artistic and applied glass objects; to consolidate knowledge and develop skills of selection and use of knowledge and practice in such a way as to enable proper conservation and restoration of antique glass objects. The main emphasis is placed on combining knowledge of glass techniques and technologies, archaeology, archaeometry, graphic documentation techniques and research workshop with practical knowledge of glass conservation and restoration. Discussions, presentation of the results of bibliographic searches by students in the group to prepare for the defence of the thesis.
DESCRIPTION
Classes are conducted for students of the third, fourth, fifth, sixth year in the field of conservation and restoration, including the reconstruction of glass with elements of conservation of other materials such as wood, metal, on specimens of old and modern art from museum and private collections. Apart from conservation and restoration proceedings, students learn how to handle glass objects properly, practise particular elements of the documentation process, such as: formal descriptions, identify and describe the original techniques, design conservation and restoration programs based on the analysis of the state of preservation, research results and analyses.
