International Scientific Conference LAACT 25 with workshops for students will take place May 6 to May 10, 2025, at N2 building (ul. Niemcewicza 2, Wrocław).
In this section of the LAACT 25 project description, you will find the following information:

- Participant application process, including the application form and deadline
The main idea of the International Scientific Conference LAACT 25 is to invite participants to collectively explore possible narratives concerning new ecologies in contemporary art. We encourage each other to go beyond a tool-based perspective on media art and to seek new ways of thinking, producing, and reproducing art while fostering more-than-human alliances.
Keywords / areas of interest: speculative realism, object-oriented ontology, dark ecology, actor-network theory, spatial experience, society of spectacle, visual protest, digital visual media, urban space, relational and performative abilities of objects, materially engaged art practices, design, authorship, sustainability, coexistence, gender, sound ecology, artificial intelligence, feminist theory, production, archive, interdisciplinary
Here’s what some of our guest speakers have written about their lectures for LAACT 25:
These lectures introduce participants to cutting-edge philosophical theories, providing not only the theoretical tools necessary for understanding our
contemporary world, but also essential concepts for actively shaping the future. ____Andrzej Marzec
Through concrete examples, she will show how unnoticed dynamics in everyday events inform her artistic process. Taking a forensic perspective on design, she examines objects not just for what they appear to be, but for the hidden networks, influences, and interactions that shape them. This approach reveals how materials, people, and ideas interact in different contexts. Furthermore, this approach explores how authorship is shared between human and non-human forces, offering new ways to think about design and artistic practice. ____Yvonne Dröge Wendel
Visual protests function as tools for renegotiating social and political narratives, dynamically challenging the meaning and authority of public monuments. ____Martina Tritthart
When, where, and how could ecofeminism and audio art meet? I propose to investigate early electronic music created by women in the 1960s, as well as the usage of speech processing in the context of gender, ecology, and artificial intelligence. Investigating the relevance of such electronic use of early digital tools can be beneficial in answering the question of how it can be used to define the social and cultural identity of AI generated sounds based on earlier electronic audio experiments. Reflection on audio art encompasses multidisciplinary and inter-genre art, as sound and picture were interconnected throughout Fluxus experiments, continuing in different forms to this day.____Małgorzata Dancewicz-Pawlik
These lectures will serve as a catalyst, inspiring participants to develop their own creative interpretations and translate abstract concepts into tangible artwork. Guided by expert facilitators, attendees will experiment with various mediums, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas and artistic practices converge to produce meaningful and innovative creations. ____Holger Lang and Martha Kicsiny
Each day of the LAACT 25 Conference is divided into lectures from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and workshops from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Selected participants will be required to be present in Wrocław for the entire duration of the program, which spans five days, from May 6 to May 10, 2025.
