We are pleased to invite you to the lecture led by a visual artist and lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University Assoc. Prof. Paul Holmes, who is joining us as a Visiting Professor under the Internationalisation of Doctoral Schools project (NAWA STER II).
Following a change of career from TV director to video artist, Paul Holmes set out to find the essential qualities of this ubiquitous yet still largely undefined medium. In this lecture, he outlines his journey since then - a decade and a half working with the moving image, and in other, related media such as audio, light, and still photographs. These explorations have taken in exhibitions around Asia, Europe and the US, and embraced cutting-edge and traditional technologies alike - allowing him to arrive at aesthetic conclusions about this youthful and unruly artform.
This lecture is open to all staff and students.
